Headwaters Rewards Conference 2026 — Ignite

Year One Is in the Books · September 25, 2026

    210+ registrations · 16 sponsors · 28 speakers · 22 sessions across four tracks

Benefits, sales comp, executive comp and broad-based pay, all in one room. It turns out that is what Twin Cities total rewards looks like when you put it together.

Don't take our word for it.

    What folks posted, tagged #Headwaters2026.

    Thank you.

To Dr. Scott Cawood, for opening the day. A first-year conference asked the CEO of WorldatWork to come to a hotel in Minneapolis and set the tone, and he said yes. That was the spark.

To the sixteen sponsors who backed something none of them had seen yet. You did not sponsor a track record. You sponsored an idea.

And to the TCCN board and volunteers, who turned a monthly meeting with a good lunch into 22 sessions, 28 speakers, four tracks, and a room that stayed full through the last block on a Friday afternoon.

And to the 28 speakers who gave us a Friday, and the 200 of you who stayed for it.

Presenting sponsor Howden, with Syndio, Marsh, SmithRx, InnoVyne, HyperEquity, Bettercomp, DailyPay, Computershare, Dayforce, Versique, Robert Half, MNSaves 529, Betr, Paylocity and Brown & Brown. Logos below

From the Closing Main Stage · September 25, 2026

About four hours north of Minneapolis, the Mississippi starts at Lake Itasca. It is narrow enough to walk across on stepping stones. People do it every summer. And that trickle turns into the river that runs the length of this country.

That is what good total rewards work looks like. Nobody starts with the finished program. It starts with a question, a spark that won't leave you alone, or one number that doesn't sit right.

Headwaters is the permanent name. Ignite was this year. What we ignited is a community, and it is yours.

Ryan Buhrke, TCCN President · September 25, 2026

    Next year gets bigger.

Headwaters 2027 planning starts with what you tell us this month. Everyone who attended, spoke or sponsored is getting a personal email with a short survey. Attendee and speaker answers are not connected to your name; sponsor answers are tied to the company. And every registration this year included twelve months of TCCN membership, so the community you were in on September 25 meets monthly.

    Why Headwaters

A conference built where the work actually happens.

Headwaters: Ignite was the inaugural conference of the Twin Cities Compensation Network, a community of compensation and benefits experts that has been meeting in Minneapolis since 1986.

Every session was led by a working expert. No vendor pitches dressed up as content. No theory disconnected from the realities of running a program. Real work, shared by the people doing it.

Built for HR business partners, total rewards leaders, comp analysts, and benefits managers who want a day with peers who get it.
